Why is Dutch Princess Alexia so popular in Argentina? Alexia is not even the heir apparent to her father, King Willem-Alexander, yet Alexia is much more popular than her older sister Amalia.

Alexia’s mother, Queen Máxima, of course has Argentinian roots and it should come as no surprise that the lives of the Dutch royals are of huge interest to Argentinians. The reason why precisely Alexia is so popular in the South American country is no coincidence.

Unlike her sisters Amalia and Ariane, Alexia really does have Argentine blood running in her veins. More than her sisters, Alexia exudes a Latin feel. And that is not surprising.

Alexia was already called her ‘mini-me’ by Queen Máxima and the Argentine press emphasises that Alexia has inherited 100 per cent of the Zorreguieta gene.

It even goes so far as to say that Argentines would gladly ‘adopt’ Alexia as their queen. If Amalia becomes queen of the Netherlands, her younger sister Alexia may get a crown in Argentina!
