A name that rings bells with many, but do you really know everything about this Flemish singer? When the tones of Elvis Presley’s voice sounded through his mother’s gramophone, a five-year-old Lotti knew music was his calling.

That early stage debut at the Ghent opera? Thanks to his grandfather Bart Lotigiers, the director at the time. The Soundmix show in 1989 was a turning point. With a beautiful rendition of Elvis’ ‘My boy’, he managed to steal the hearts of many. And, voila, his career took off. With hits from his first album ‘Flemish nights’ and follow-ups that shone in the Flemish Ultratop, it was clear: Helmut was here to stay. But the real international success? That came in 1995, when ‘Helmut Lotti goes classic’ became a phenomenon.

From African rhythms to Latin American vibes, he did it all. But in between all these triumphs, let’s not forget where it all started: with a little boy listening to Elvis in Ghent.
